Tri-City Children's Dream Foundation, Inc.

About US : Over the years I have seen many children with disabilities and wondered what could be done to make them happier in life. What would they like to do to make life more rewarding and enjoyable? How could I lift their spirit and give them something they would remember and treasure for the rest of their lives. I wanted to give these children a chance to have an exciting and enjoyable experience in life, doing something they wanted to do. Children dream of doing something exciting or going some place special. Oftentimes, children with disabilities never get the chance for that dream to become a reality.

In May of 2001, I founded the Tri-City Children’s Dream Foundation, Inc. Our purpose in developing this foundation is to help children achieve or receive something in life that they may have not been otherwise able to accomplish because of a physical or mental disorder they may have been stricken with, through no fault of their own.

Our slogan is “Every Child Has A Dream”. It is our goal to make children’s dreams come true: to take them out of their daily routine and let them have a special and exciting experience in life. We want to create a special time for the children, and their families, enabling them to enjoy the love and camaraderie that holds a family together in a unique setting away from home.

To date we have “Granted Dreams” to nine children and their families. Six have gone to Disney World, two have experienced NASCAR races, and one has enjoyed a Caribbean Cruise. The pictures and letters we have received from these families show us we are achieving our goal in making their dreams come true.

The funding of these dreams comes from two different sources. We have a Sponsor program in which a person or business pays a set fee annually. We also do fundraisers through the year. We have a large number of volunteers, which we are able to call upon, for help with the fundraisers.

Our Board of Directors consists of seven dedicated members. Our Board members understand that the children are the reason this foundation was formed and are dedicated to enhancing the lives of the children we work with. We are a registered 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) organization.

We are known and appreciated throughout our local area for what we do. The business community is always there with donations when we ask for their support for our fundraisers, as are many of the citizens in this area.

We have come a long way in the past 8 years and we feel it is time to take another step to make life even better for these special children. We want to create a “CHILDREN’S DREAM RETREAT”. This will be a place for the children and their families to get away for a 5-day period and just relax, once or twice a year during the summer months, at no cost to the families. A place where they can enjoy the peace and quiet in the beautiful woodland areas of Wisconsin, take a stroll down a path in the woods, go swimming, and sit around the campfire at night and tell stories. Again, family time. Meals will be provided, along with special daily activities and movies in the evening for all to enjoy.
